Up for bid is an extremely rare LP, "The Cats," featuring John Coltrane, Tommy Flanagan, Kenny Burrell, and Idrees Sulieman. This is an original mono press, released by New Jazz (New Jazz 8217). The interior labels are purple with silver lettering, with "A Product of Prestige Records, Inc., 203 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, N.J." printed at the bottom. Matrix info includes RVG stamped on both sides. LP is a solid VG+, with faint scuffs and a couple of tiny light scratches on either side. LP plays with some surface noise (crackle & tics) - but no skips. A professional clean should remove some of the surface noise. LP is retains a nice gloss. Jacket is VG+, with a couple of seam splits. There is a split in the center of the top seam about 1 1/2 inches long. There is a split in the center of the bottom seam about 2 inches long. There is light ring wear on the front and back of the jacket. There is corner wear on all corners. There is wear along the lip of the jacket - the gloss has started to peel along the lip (see pictures). There are a couple of check marks in black ink on the back next to a couple of song titles (see pictures). There is a couple of red ink stamps on the back of the jacket (see photos). Overall, both the LP and the jacket are in great shape! An original mono press of this LP is difficult to find in any condition! Don't miss your chance to pick up this extremely rare gem!
