Coltrane and his band mates create compelling, frenzied and beautiful sonic landscapes which helped revolutionize jazz. Released in January 1960, Giant Steps was John's first album devoted entirely to his own compositions and confirmed his command of tenor saxophone and his emerging skill as a composer.
