Description
For sale is this beautiful scarce vinyl LP of JOHN COLTRANE - "LIVE" AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD on His Master's Voice 1962. This immaculate copy is the 1962 U.K. 1st Mono Pressing. It features a thick card front-laminated sleeve with two flip-backs (top and bottom), an unlaminated back with eggshell finish and Ernest J. Day printing credit. It has its original HMV advertising inner. The disc has the old style burgundy HMV labels. The catalogue number is CLP 1590. The matrices are:
Side One - A 10A - 1S A10B - 1S
Condition*:
The sleeve is EX with very light wear. The front lamination is very clean with very light surface wear. There is a very faint impression of the disc when it is held up to the light. The bottom left corner has a little wear and has split at the opening edge by about 15mm. There is light shelf wear to the bottom edge and a slight crease parallel with this edge about 6mm in. The other corners have almost no wear. The spine and top edge are completely unworn. The back is very clean with few signs of handling. The flip-backs are not lifting and the text is clear and un-rubbed. Overall a really excellent sleeve.
The disc is graded EX. The surfaces are dark and lustrous. Under harsh light there are some very light surface marks but nothing that intrudes into the audio beyond some occasional crackle. This record has been played through from start to finish and plays faultlessly. Overall a really exceptional copy of this very scarce John Coltrane 1st Pressing.

I can only give an honest appraisal based on careful visual inspection and thorough play testing. I do try to describe all significant faults and I certainly won't intentionally hide anything. Please read the description carefully, look at the pictures and make your own mind up. The grading scale I have used goes from G to NM with VG+ as par. In other words: Good (G), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Excellent (EX) and Near Mint (NM). Anything better than that would be Mint and would be listed as new. Anything worse than Good I probably wouldn't be selling.
