Description
A very rare and collectable copy of John Coltrane- Lush Life released in 1961 on the English Esquire label, Catalogue No 32-129. Pressed using the original US metalwork,engineer Rudy Van Gelder's initials can be seen etched in the run-out grooves ( see photos).
The heavyweight vinyl has been ultrasonically cleaned in a Degritter Mark II. It has retained a glossy lustre with one or two faint scuff marks and a hairline, non feelable. Clean labels and spindle holes - graded VG+.
Playback is really enjoyable & reveals a typically vibrant Esquire mono sound quality. It plays beautifully with no jumping, sticking or skating. Some low background noise in places, not continuous or overpowering.
The flipback laminate sleeve is in reasonable condition for the age. There is an area of laminate peel near the opening. Old tape residue is visible to the rear side and top flaps ( see photos) Mild ringwear plus a few creases & corner rubbing. Clear rear notes section with a little foxing. No writing, splits, tears, stains or tape repairs.
The record is housed in a heavyweight Emitex type inner sleeve.
