Description

John Coltrane My Favorite Things 1962 Mono RE Red/Purple/Black Fan Label VG-/VG+.

For auction is a good listeners copy of My Favorite Things by American jazz saxophonist, composer and band leader, John Coltrane. His seventh solo album and third on the Atlantic Records label. Released in March 1961, My Favorite Things features Coltrane playing soprano saxophone for the first time. The title track, an instrumental version of the classic written by Roger’s and Hammerstein for The Sound of Music,, had commercial success getting a lot of radio play. The album was a critical and commercial success being certified gold in the US with sales of half a million. Now considered a jazz classic, My Favorite Things was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998 and in 2000 it was ranked #392 in Colin Larkin’s All Time Top 1000 Albums. This copy is a 1962 mono reissue that has red/purple labels with black fan. The 1st press has a white one.

Vinyl is played graded VG-. Many light visible surface marks. One tiny one early on track 1 side 1 causes a slight jump. Plays through with no other skips. Does play with consistent mild background of various degrees. Most apparent early on both sides and quiet parts. Still a decent listen. Please see pics.

Cover is in VG+ condition. The front has a glossy finish and look great. The top left corner is slightly peeled. Corners and seams are nice. No splits and title is fully legible. On front along title edge there is a red stain. A speck of it is on title. The back has ring wear and stains. Pen marks on lower right. Original Atlantic Records inner sleeve is included but a generic white die-cut one is used to protect vinyl. Please see pics.

Good luck bidding and thank you for looking!!
