FORMAT: 12" 33 1/3 RPM LP ARTIST: John Coltrane with Red Garland TITLE: Soultrane LABEL: Prestige NUMBER: 7142 MONO/STEREO: High Fidelity Mono
This auction is for John Coltrane's Soultrane with Red Garland (Prestige PRLP 7142). As far as I know, this is not a reissue or a remastered version. The label on the record describes itself as a "Long Playing Microgroove" pressed at Prestige Records 203 South Washington Ave, Bergenfield NJ. The dead wax has RVG and D printed on the A side, and RVG and E printed on the B side.
The record is in Very Good+ condition. As you can see from the videos, the sound quality is is near perfect on both sides. There is some minor scuffing and very light needle marks, but the record has been well cared for, and none of the blemishes affect the sound. The cover is in Very Good condition. The laminate on the front is near perfect with only smudges and old dust stains that can be wiped off if you care to. The bottom and rear edges are unsplit with only a slight tagging at the corners. The upper edge does have a 2" split at the opening corner, otherwise it is completely intact. The rear right side has some storage wear on the paper, and in the upper left corner is some light writing. Otherwise, the rear is also in excellent condition.
