Description
This is the original Van Gelder-stamped first edition of John Coltrane “Ascension” on Impulse AS-95. (On the first edition, Impulse mistakenly released Take 2. Coltrane preferred Take 1 and required Impulse to re-release Ascension, which is identified in the run-off as "Edition II".) The playing surface is in near-new condition, with a high luster; perhaps played once. The laminated gatefold cover is in excellent condition - bright and clean throughout – with light age toning around the edges of the interior. ABC inner sleeve is included. Personnel include Freddie Hubbard, Marion Brown, Archie Shepp, John Tchicai, and Pharoah Sanders. $100.00.
