John Coltrane vinyl LP – Meditations
Very Rare First Pressing[?]* on Impulse! Comes in a Laminated Gatefold Cover, with the Original Company Inner Sleeve. Runout Groove on ‘Side 1’ is etched: AS-9110-A LW and stamped “VAN GELDER”. Vinyl Record is NEAR-MINT condition (aside from a tiny inaudible surface mark on Side 1, this Album is actually Like New condition). Gatefold Cover is EX+ condition; Inner Sleeve is VG++ condition. *There is some confusion/uncertainty surrounding this particular pressing. Apparently, partway through the 1966 first pressing of this album, there was a slight change made to the record labels. The very first labelling read "A PRODUCT OF ABC-PARAMOUNT RECORDS INC." at the bottom in white text. On the next label, that text was changed to "A PRODUCT OF ABC RECORDS INC. NEW YORK, N.Y. 10019" which is this copy. These labels were then also used for early batches of the next (second) pressing in 1967 … but then the labels were changed again in mid-pressing to the 'rainbow' labels (which were then used on subsequent pressings until 1972).
So, in short, any copy with the "...ABC PARAMOUNT..." labels are definitely first pressings, ones with the "PRODUCT OF ABC RECORDS..." labels (this copy) are either a late batch of the first 1966 pressing or an early batch of the 1967 second pressing. Those with the 'rainbow' label are from 1967 or later.
