Description
This nice LP is "The Cats" with John Coltrane, Tommy Flanagan, Kenny Burrell and Idrees Sulieman. It is a first pressing on the New Jazz label, #8217. Recording is by Rudy Van Gelder, and RVG is stamped in the deadwax. The label is dark blue with Prestige and their logo on it, as well as the Bergenfield, New Jersey address. Mono, of course
Condition of the jacket is 8.5/10. No fading or foxing of the front or rear, the cover photo of two? cats is very striking. The lower left corner is bumped and there is a vendor stamp on back. I purchased this LP from a Swiss collector and the "Jazz by Post" sticker on the back reflects this. There is the slightest bit of wear on the lower center part of the front, but this does not detract from the "cats" photo.
Label condition is 9.5/10 and it is not faded.
Visual appearance of the vinyl is a solid 9/10. It looks close to pristine. It is not warped or scratched, and has no apparent spindle marks.
The vinyl playgrades at a solid 9.5/10 on my modded Rega Planar 25 turntable with Clearaudio Virtuoso cartridge and Decware's latest phono preamp. The LP sounds great with very nice sonics (recording by Van Gelder). I carefully cleaned the vinyl by first removing any static and blowing off the small amount of loose dust with canned compressed air. It was then cleaned on my VPI 16.5 recording cleaning machine using MoFi Super Super Deep Cleaner and MoFi Super Wash for a rinse. Vinyl is in a new rice paper sleeve and the jacket is in a new heavy poly sleeve with cardboard inside as a stiffener.
The album will be shipped in a sturdy 14x14x4 box using plenty of bubblepack for packing. Priority Mail shipping cost in the continental US will be a flat $10 for this well-packed over-sized box. Other countries, inquire for rates.
