Overview
Presenting the ultimate holy grail for John Denver collectors and music historians: an original, authentic 1966 private pressing of John Denver Sings.
Long before he became a household name and global superstar, a young John Denver recorded this debut album at his own expense. Only 250 copies were ever pressed. Distributed exclusively as 1966 Christmas gifts to his closest friends, family, and inner circle, surviving copies are virtually impossible to find.
This specific copy is a monumental artifact: the back jacket features a trio of vintage, 1966-era hand-signed inscriptions from John Denver himself and his core studio musicians.
The Historical Significance
The First "Jet Plane": This album features the absolute first recorded version of "Babe, I Hate To Go" (Track 3, Side One). This track was later renamed and became his timeless, legendary anthem "Leaving on a Jet Plane."
The Dedication: The jacket header reads "Dedicated to Milt Okun"—the legendary producer who discovered Denver, recognized his genius, and launched his historic career.
Inscriptions & Autograph Details
The back of the jacket is uniquely personalized to a mutual acquaintance named Mickey, signed in vintage red ink:
John Denver: “Mickey, Rarely have I enjoyed an evening as much as tonight. I hope we can all get together again someday. Sincerely, John Denver” (A beautiful, highly legible example of his scarce, pre-fame early signature).
Bob Hefferan (Lead Guitarist): “To a great gal, I’ve had more fun than I’ve had in an age! I can't wait to come back. Bob Hefferan.”
Paul Prestopino (Banjo / Bass Guitarist): Features a large, clear, stylized signature placed directly over his credited illustration on the back jacket.

Signature will be required for delivery.
