THIS IS A 3-RECORD LP BOXED SET...NOT CD'S ! 

Longines Symphonette Society , licensed and authorized by the Trustees of the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Library: “The Kennedy Years”, the rarest and best of the many tribute record LP's/sets that were released after the president's assassination. 

Apparently, at least part of the sales proceeds from this set were earmarked for building the JFK library (see below). 

This rare box set has three record LP’s in as-new condition (we don’t see any sign that they were played, prior to our play-testing them).  Contents: news-making moments from JFK's inauguration to his assassination.

Records 1 & 2: Former Secretary of State Dean Rusk narrates and introduces famous speeches and press conferences.   Record 3:  News anchorman Chet Huntley reports on key moments of the Kennedy presidency.  

Edited by Special White House Counsel to President Kennedy, Theodore Sorensen.

Includes:

•  a folder that contains an original, numbered certificate of appreciation from The Trustees of the JFK Library; and 

• a one-page letter to “Friends of the Longines Symphonette” (sample verbiage: “Obviously, this is an important production – it is the only record collection licensed and authorized by the Trustees of the JFK Library, which you are helping to build”); and 

• a 6-color illustration portrait print of Kennedy by “a noted American illustrator” (illustrator not formally credited by name - the signature appears to read “C.J. Gross”, but we could be misreading it). The portrait stays on the quality side of things, avoiding the cheesy kitsch of so many other thousands that were dashed-out at the time.

CONDITION:  All three record LP’s play in MINT condition, no flaws whatsoever.  The outer slipcase box is in great condition on the back and sides (no splits or scuffs or other damage in those areas), with foxing, age toning (and material peeled off from the base) on the front cover (please see the image).  The inner slipcase that holds the LP’s (and bears a facsimile of JFK’s signature, as well as the Presidential Seal) is in great shape, so we’re grading the box components as VERY GOOD, overall. 

The folder has a tiny bit of foxing on the front, so is VERY GOOD PLUS; the contents of the folder (letter, certificate, and the 9 x 12 color portrait print) are all in MINT condition.
