Description

John Hammond I Can Tell LP - 1967 US Elec. Blues - 4 1/2 star allmusic.com alb.  Condition is Very good. Sent with Australia Post  Standard.
This is a pressing from the year of release - 1967 - not sure if it counts as a 1st pressing. Cat. No. SD 8152. (See discogs.com) I am not the original owner of this record, but I have had it for decades.
I think that the record and cover would be VG on the Goldmine rating scale. There is a sticker with a name stuck to the label (which should be noticeable on the photo) and a modest few spindle marks. Otherwise, the label is clean. The vinyl has what I would describe as surface scratches, since they do not appear to affect play. I have played the album through, and have been unable to detect any but the most minor of occasional clicks. You have to be very attentive to notice any defects. The record is straight, and plays through without problems.
The cover is showing signs of age. It is a heavy cardboard, with some modest ring wear, a name sticker, and general wear and tear. However, it is intact. The previous owner has inserted a couple of newspaper articles inside the cover - one from 1984 during a tour of Australia.
If you want pristine records for you collection, this is not for you, as it is noticeably visually aged. (It's over 50 years old) However, if you are primarily interested in what you hear rather than what you see, this might do the trick. It's quality electric blues including a number of old standards. It's a 4 1/2 star allmusic.com rated album, with the possible added bonus that it's a pressing from the year of release. You can buy copies of this from the US, but I don't think it's common in Australia.
Records are sent in a double layer of rigid cardboard with the vinyl external to the cover to minimise the risk of compression damage to the cover.
