Description

I'm downsizing my record collection and parting with a truly exceptional copy of one of the all-time greatest electric blues records. If you're reading this you already know how great the music is!
What's really interesting about this record is it's a version I've never come across. Check the pics and you'll see what I mean.
The outer sleeve is CLEARLY from the mono version: the label number and partially blacked-out "MONAURAL" on the spine attest to this. Also, the mono version number (A-9103) is on the back of the record sleeve. There are "STEREO" stickers on the front and back, but these were obviously tacked on, not printed on the sleeve itself. Likewise, the label of the record seems to be the original mono version too, but with "Stereo" and the new issue number stamped on top of it.
Here's the thing though: the inside gatefold is definitely from the stereo version, listing AS-9103 rather than A-9103, and has the title "It ServeS You Right to Suffer" instead of "It Serve You Right to Suffer".
All this leads me to believe that this record is not simply a stereo record in a mono sleeve, but a stereo copy that was made BEFORE the stereo sleeves were finished, and sold in a hastily-repurposed mono sleeve. I don't know how many copies are out there that look like this, but I'm guessing it's not a lot, as I couldn't find any info on such a "version".
This isn't just an amazing record by one of the greatest bluesmen of all time -- it's an incredibly unique, and no doubt highly collectible version! Happy bidding!
