Description

John Lee Hooker - Sings Blues - 1960 1st Pressing  - KING 727 - MONO
16 selections Every One a Pearl

This is the original deep-groove mono pressing, considered by collectors to be one of the rarest blues LPs ever issued!!   This is NOT the 80s reissue (which is also rare and hard to find).   All analog tube-cut pressing, sounds great through a tube amp.

Tracks are a collection of John Lee Hooker's late 1940s - early 1950s sides, all originally released on 78rpm discs.   Includes the haunting "Thinking Blues", and others.   Some of John Lee's most exciting early work, and one of the most elusive King label LPs.

Please keep in mind that despite the claims on the rear cover, this is not a "high fidelity" recording - these are sides recorded before the hi-fi era, and re-released for their historical and aesthetic rather than technical qualities.

King Records BLACK Label,  Original 1st USA Pressing.

Condition of cover:   VG+  top and bottom seam starting to split, cover bright and vivid with no ringwear, back still bright white, with sticker residue, name in pen, and light spotting at bottom.   Overall very presentable, has had little exposure to light or air.

Condition of disc:  VG+   Looks very nice and clean, thick heavy disc.   Numerous spindle marks, disc has obviously seen some play.    No deep scratches, superficial marks only.  Plays back with some surface noise, use mono cartridge and 1 mil stylus for best fidelity.   Could use a professional cleaning.
