For Sale: A very rare copy of The double LP, John Lennon Chronicles Part 1 (The Beatles Years), from 1985. Its catalogue number is TRW1940, with runout numbers 1940-A/-B/-C/-D. Using the grading system below I would rate this album as VERY GOOD.
Vinyl Condition: GOOD. I have just played it through completely and the sound is good with only the occasional clicks and pops, but NB however, it jumps on “Me & My Monkey” and “Maybe Baby”, and sticks on “Watching Rainbows” and the runout track of side D.
Cover Condition: VERY GOOD: The laminate has some slight creases but it is clean and unmarked. The spine is sound and legible. The LP’s comes in a plain white sleeves.
Definitely for the Lennon/Beatles collector, this record is not the final versions of all the tracks we know and love, but rather a collection of demos, out-takes, and alternative mixes of many well known Lennon songs. Highlights include The Beatles BBC version of Arthur Alexandrer’s “Soldier Of Love”, the original demo of Billy J Kramer’s “Bad To Me”, “Strawberry Fields” developing, and “Child Of Nature”, later to be “Jealous Guy”. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced. POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
