John Lennon Jealous Guy French single with Picture Sleeve Rare Near Mint!
I'm paring down my Beatles and solo collection. For auction is the John Lennon single Jealous Guy / Going Down on Love reissued in 1981 by Pathe Marconi, the French subsidiary of EMI/Parlophone. The catalog number is 2 C 008-07492.
The front cover is based on the "Imagine" LP cover and has the same style printing for the title. The B side was taken from "Walls and Bridges." This is the only copy of this I have ever seen.
The vinyl appears to be perfect. I never played it. The label is not a pasted-on paper label, but an etched silver label, which is customary for singles on the continent. The A-side matrix is M3 335800. The B-side matrix is 07492 B 21. Both matrix numbers are machine stamped. The sleeve is heavier than an normal US picture sleeve, more like cardstock. The sleeve is near mint. The front right corner has a very slight bend, not a crease. The edges, seams, and corners are all perfect. I keep the vinyl in a separate paper sleeve, which reduces wear and tear on the picture sleeve.
The photos are of the actual item being sold. The front cover is difficult to photograph well.
I bought this copy from Wax Trax Records in Chicago the early 1980s, so I have owned it for 30+ years. I believe it was new when I bought it. The item has been kept in a smoke-free and pet-free environment since I purchased it.
