Artist: John Lennon Title: Sings The Great Rock & Roll Hits Label: Adam VIII Year: 1975
Condition Record(s): VG+ Record has some scuff marks and a couple hairlines. Labels show some minor spindle wear. Condition Cover: Good. Cover is intact, front and back images are clean, but has splits in the middle of all three seams.
Special Notes: I'm sure if you are looking at this listing you know the story behind this album. I have researched this record to the best of my ability and I believe that this is an authentic first pressing of this record. Here is the itemized list that defines a "real" vs. a "fake" according to my research.
1. Any copy that has the word "GREATEST" instead of "GREAT" on the spine is a fake. 2. Original covers are manufactured with white poster board. Paste over cover slicks are fake. 3. On the cover you should be able to see pink flesh on John's shoulder. If not, it's a fake. 4. lf the letters in the word STEREO run together on the front cover, it is a fake. 5. On the back cover, printing on the advertisement album covers is legible, though small. On fakes, the print is completely unreadable. 6. If the record is unusually thick, it is a fake. 7. If the label is unusually large it is a fake. 8. If the trail off wax does not have a "Bell Sound" stamp, it is a fake. 9. All original copies have the matrix number A 8018 pressed into the side 1 label. No fakes have this feature. 10. Most originals had an advertisement inner sleeve.
As the pictures indicate, this record checks every box for an authentic copy with the exception of the advertisement inner sleeve. I bought this used several years ago and it did not have any sleeve at the time I purchased it. If you have any other questions regarding this record please ask!
