John Lennon and Yoko ONO - Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins
This superb copy of the John Lennon's debut solo album is a UK STEREO first pressing on the unique dark green Apple label with Track Records distributors credit.
The record signalled John's first foray into the conceptual avant-garde music/art scene. It is drastically different from any of the earlier Beatles albums and was not commercially successful, selling only 5000 copies in the UK - many of which were treated poorly. Consequently, finding playable copies today is difficult.
The vinyl is housed within the highly controversial laminated sleeve. EMI would not distribute the record due to the sleeve and therefore John approached the independently run Track records to do so. In some regions the record was sold inside a brown paper bag.
Also included is the original die-cut black inner sleeve.

Vinyl: VERY GOOD +
Labels: VERY GOOD +
The labels are bright, clean and without writing. There are only a handful of light spindle marks on either side.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
The record displays deep-gloss playing surfaces which only show a handful of light marks in strong daylight - none of which can be felt. Under a strong halogen bulb a number of wispy paper hairline marks can be seen.
Sound Quality: VERY GOOD +
Due to the nature of the record it is difficult to tell the quality of the reproduction. There is a lot of white noise present and distinguishing what is 'meant' to be there from what is not is difficult. The lead-ins are quiet. There are no obtrusive pops, no skips and no sticks.
Sleeve: VERY GOOD +
In the words of John, the front sleeve shows 'two recovering junkies'. Certainly not one to show your Grandma. Both the front and rear are clean and bright without any sign of discolouration. As is usually the case, there is a couple of patches of laminate bubbling near the spine to the front side as well as subtle signs of ring wear.
Inner Sleeve: VERY GOOD +
The inner sleeve suffers from the usual small tears around the die-cut centre that the black apple inner is known for. Overall in solid condition, more than capable of holding a record. The vinyl is housed inside an audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve to help protect and preserve the record and inner sleeve.
The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
