John Lennon & Yoko Ono 1st Press US LP Two virgins EX 68 Apple T5001 With Letter
Rare Original 1st Press US LP released in 1968 on Apple/ Teetragrammaton Records. Cat: T-5001. Matrix Numbers:(Side A Etched (MR is stamped)): T-5001-1 MR [Circled] ?12796/ (Side B Etched (MR is stamped)): T-5001-2 MR [Circled] ?12796-X. Comes with printed outer bag which has a few very tiny surface tears around edges and is in Excellent condition.The gentleman that owed this record gave me a letter from Apple Records dating from March 30th 1970. He had conatcted Apple Records via mail to try and get a copy of this album which was never released in Australia. The reply letter explaining that the UK edition was currently out of print and they were importing US copies to send to customers. The compliments card that came with it has Sally Stewart’s signature who worked for Apple records and I have attached a photo showing the girls who worked there with Sally sitting front row 4th from left. (the photo was take from the net and is not a part of this item). The actual letter and compliments signed car are in Near Mint condition. The envelope which was cut open has sticky tape marks along edges and is in VG+ condition. Obviously he did eventually get his US copy of the record and this is it!!
Every so often Timewarp is lucky enough to come across a special record collection. Over the following weeks I will be listing records from one such collection. Collected mostly during the 1960’s and 70’s this set of records have been well preserved and cared for some dating back to over 50 years old!! Our regular customers will be aware that if we do grade a record at Near Mint expect it to have only been played a handful of times at most and to sound superb. At the time of its release, this duo album by John Lennon and Yoko Ono gained its greatest notice for its cover, a photograph that depicted the two standing before the camera naked. The recording, too, can be described as naked, in that it contains no music that would interfere with one's ability to hear the normal sounds of life. The record is not unlike what you might get if you turned on a tape recorder for a random half-hour in your home snatches of inaudible conversation far away from the microphone, footsteps, wind, and so on. Conceptual "music" in the Cage-ian sense, yes, but not popular music of the kind with which John Lennon had been previously associated in any sense at all.
Tracks: Two virgins/ Two virgins.
There are no signs of spindle marks on labels. There are no signs of scuffs or scratches on record but there are a few light crackles so I have graded in Excellent condition. Cover has a few very light marks and light crease marks on top right and bottom left corners and is in Excellent condition. Printed outer bag which has a few very tiny surface tears around edges and is in Excellent condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
Post methods within Australia: All records are posted via Australia Post. Within Australia all items come with a tracking number.
Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
