Description
For sale is my copy of Two Virgins (the little bits and pieces I used to cover John and Yoko's bits and pieces are not included in the auction.)
Here's a little of the history of this record. I bought it shrinkwrapped from Mike Lloyd Music in Hanley, Stoke, some time around 1990. There were three or four shrinkwrapped copies out in the racks. This was a legitimate business which wasn't in the habit of putting bootlegs and counterfeits on display (cough!) I was told that it was a reissue that had come out in the USA. So far, so plausible.
A spot of internet research suggests it's probably not all that legit after all, but I've played it precisely once since removing the shrinkwrap, and after 27 glorious years together I felt it was time it went to gather dust elsewhere.
The outer bag is as seen in the photographs - two clean edges, and a raggedy, discoloured one where it's sat on the shelf for all these years. The other corner has a half-inch tear at the top. The inner sleeve (but, curiously, not the outer sleeve or bag) has a cutout mark.
The main sleeve, which I've humourously censored to save eBay the trouble, is VG. Substantially good, but with a corner crease.
The record, whose matrix numbers are handwritten T-5001-1 and T-5001-2, is in almost absolutely brand spanking new conditon. Almost because there is a small, visible scratch at the start of side 2 which I remember creating. It might sound like hype, but I have literally played this record once. After playing side 2, the arm of my record player "bounced" off its rest (the guard was down) and landed on the record, creating the scratch.
Being realistic, then, the outer bag is G, the sleeve is VG, side 1 is NM and side 2 is VG.
The record will be sent out in a proper mailer with a stiffener included.
