Country of manufacture: as was consistent with many releases with the EU in the eighties, this is a German pressing with the sleeve marked ‘Printed in West Germany by TOPAC’.

Condition: this super rare record with unique signature is graded as follows:

Vinyl labels: minimum excellent plus (+) with minimal spindle marks

Vinyl: minimum excellent condition. Thin eighties vinyl but still with a deep shine, and very minor evidence of any handling. Very minor finger mark and markings from removal of the inner sleeve.

Playback: I have played this album the whole way through and it plays to a very high standard and a strong excellent condition, with minimal background noise, and only a handful of minor pops, no clicks and no jumps apparent on my Rega 6 deck.

Inner sleeve: plain polylined inner sleeve is a minimum excellent condition, with minor creasing and it’s clear that this record has hardly left the sleeve!

Outer cover: very striking gatefold sleeve that has a spot varnished central band featuring the image of John Martyn on the front panel, with the internal left hand and right-hand panels both gloss finish, with rear panel a matt finish. Cover is consistent with the record and is a strong excellent condition, with minor spine creasing, minimal dinks and lovely flat panels. The record has been stored in a soft plastic cover and has no signs of rubbing. Overall grading excellent condition.

Rarity: So what is so special and rare about this record, that sold moderately well in the 1980's?

***Well, this really is a ‘one off’ and a great example of John Martyn’s signature and will look stunning framed!***

This record was one of three records signed in the Netherlands on 27th March 1986, on what was a European tour for the ‘Piece by Piece’ album, released in EU territories the month before in February'86, and the concert was in Nijmegen in the Netherlands. This is a really stunning, unfaded autograph on the inner right-hand panel, in black felt pen, where John has signed;

‘Hi Y’all John Martyn x’

For any fan of this remarkable artist, this is a stunning find and deserved to be framed and presented!
