JOHN MARTYN - 'THE TUMBLER'
This EXCELLENT copy of John Martyn's 2nd studio album is a UK 1st stereo pressing dating from initial October 1968 release.
It is on early 'orange eye', textured pink Island label: ILP 9091
Matrices: ILPS+9091+A & ILPS+9091+B
Vinyl weight: 157g
The disc is housed within fully laminated cover without a printer's credit, but complete with its original 'Patent No.' inner-sleeve.

A clean & bright pair with no noticeable blemishes. There is slight wear to the side 2 centre hole & some light spindle trails there visible only at certain angle.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both sides of this well-cared for disc are extremely clean and glossy. The only significant blemish is a 1.5cm hairline scratch on side 1 which is just feelable beneath my fingertips. Besides that, there are a few other non-feelable marks and faint paper scuffs consistent with inner-sleeve removal but no further significant blemishes or wear on this highly respectable copy which lies 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
Wonderful warm, clean & clear sound from this carefully but not over-played copy. All tracks are free from any groove/playwear distortion or and background crackle or interference. The only significant distraction to catch my ear during my playcheck were some repeating light clicks during the latter part of 'The River' and the beginning of 'Going Down To Memphis' which were caused by the aforementioned scratch. The remainder of the album plays flawlessly with no any further audible faults or distractions of any kind.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A clean & glossy example bearing light handling & storagewear but no major faults throughout. Both front & rear panels are clean & retain all of their high-gloss finish bearing just two small 'thumbnails' to the front and one to the rear alongside some small edge & spine wrinkles. there are two small bends towards the upper left of the front panel which has lifted the laminated slightly but there are no crack or missing pieces to it. All corners are free from any bumps or bruising and both opening edges are sharp and unworn.
There is a touch of shelfwear to the edges of the rear panel but both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is clean & fully worded.
