John Prine, Fair & Square Original 2007 pressing with gatefold cover Vinyl: I purchased this new and listened to it twice. Once when it was first opened, and then just now to grade it for this listing. If you've read anything about this record, you know that it unfortunately had multiple pressing defects. This copy is no different. It has all of the standard issues that they all have, including some surface noise/popping on side A, as well as side D. On side A, about halfway through The Glory of True Love there is some popping and noise due to a surface imperfection that was there when I opened the album. I've circled in in photo 11. It doesn't cause any skipping and plays through. On side D during Safety Joe there is the buzzing sound that is common to this pressing. Though I would say it's not nearly as bad or as long lasting as I've read. I've heard that some copies are pretty much bad all the way through side D, but overall it was fine for me with only a few issues of noise/buzzing. The areas that don't have any pressing issues are quiet and sound good. If not for these pressing defects, I'd rate this conservatively as a strong VG+. The first lp does show some paper scuffs on the vinyl. As you can see in the photos the printed inner sleeves are very tight which have no doubt caused them.
Cover: Some corner bumps and edge wear. Overall clean cover with general signs of light wear. No seam splits, tears etc.
I will be reducing my record collection slowly over the next few months and listing new auctions as time allows. All vinyl ships in proper record boxes with padding. Records are removed from their covers for shipping unless the record is sealed.
