Description
This is the John Ylvisaker Don't Cut The Baby In Half LP, mega rare private Xian Folk/Psych release, listed in Ken Scott's archivist book, where it is listed to be less than 200 of these pressed. Perhaps Ylvisaker's hardest to find release, recorded live at Northwestern Seminary Convocation with Amanda Ylvisaker on Flute. Vinyl is VG to VG+, plays with some light noise in spots. I had not seen a copy of this record in over 10 years, however just recently came across this one while digging through a warehouse full of records.
The vinyl is pretty decent, but as you can see the cover is in rough shape. I rescued it and cleaned it up best I could, but as you can see the bottom half of record got some bad moisture wear and some of the paste over has come off, which is probably for the best, on both front and back. You can still see some slight moisture stainings on cardboard, but otherwise cardboard is not split, just missing the paste over on bottom and staining from the moisture wear. Rest of cover has writing upper left , spot of wear on paste over near top by the baby's head, writing on back. I took close ups of cover, please look them over.
Despite the cover wear, I was still excited to find this LP, it is one that I always look for and have never found another one until now. Despite the wear to the cover, I'm sure somebody is still looking for this one and will provide as a nice filler. This record has only been up for sale twice so far this year with high price going for over $100. Feel free to make an offer on this rare LP!!

"Just when you thought your John Ylvisaker collection might be nearing completion here comes this excruciatingly rare custom recording that reportedly has only a 100-200 press. Many of the songs here are early acoustic renderings of titles that would later appear on his Avant Garde albums: ‘The Prophecy,’ ‘Joseph,’ ‘Desolation,’ ‘Rich Young Ruler,’ ‘Water of Life,’ ‘They Can’t Kill Me,’ ‘Noise of Solemn Assemblies.’ The performance features 12-string guitar plus flute, bass, percussion, and a second male harmony. Side two introduces several otherwise unavailable cuts like ‘Anxiety,’ ‘The Noodle in the Alphabet Soup,’ and the title track.[From the record] Cool Livin’ is ‘A Man and his Dog’ (here it’s entitled ‘Dog Spelled Backwards.’). Portions sound live before an audience with the verbal songs intros preserved (he introduces ‘He’s Got the Whole Baby in His Hands’ as having “what they used to call a ‘ni**er beat’ – they don’t call it that anymore”). Closes with a sing-along to the tune of ‘Michael Row the Boat Ashore,’ after which John says “well that’s it,” followed by audience applause."
