Description
This is a Perfect Never Played copy of Sun Record #241 By Johnny Cash "I Walk The Line" & "Get Rhythm."
Here is how I aquired this record:
In 1970 I purchased this and several Sun Records directly from Shelby Singleton at his office and warehouse on Belmont Boulevard in Nashville, TN. Shelby was a longtime successful record producer formerly with Mercury Records and then independently produced Jeanie C. Riley for his own Plantation label and further developed his own empire by purchasing the Sun label and entire catalog and stock and moved it from Memphis to Nashville. Shelby produced several of my records at that time. Shelby knew that I loved Johnny Cash and was a sometimes Cash song stylist as well. Shelby and some of his staff, Royce Clark, Paul Martin and Rita Remington took me through the warehouse where he had stored the old Sun records. Though I already had them I purchased several additional copies of many titles. I have kept them and now am offering them at auction. This record has never been played. Even the Mastering Engineers inscription "Sun 110" on the inner circle portion of the disk is very clear. This was a process that was done on all records when the master acetate was cut and from that the impressions for stampers which were usually made of a composition containing silver were made. The master number is usually not the same as the record number. I purchased several copies from Shelby in 1970 and gave most of them to friends. Shelby put all of the 78's I purchased into the box (See Photo) on which was written "Sun 253." I am not sure what Sun release #253 was. Guess I'll have to get my book out! I am including the box for the winning bidder of this auction. I have carefully examined the box and there is a stamp on the bottom pertaining to the container company that manufactured the box. There is also a stamp 78 25 which I assumed indicated 25 78 records in this box. The numbers 253 and 22 are handwritten with a marker and on the side of the box is the letter "K." Since even the record box is now a piece of Sun collectable memorabilia I feel it is important to include this information. The record and box will be carefully packaged and shipped insured mail. This is an opportunity to own two very special items!
This auction will be shipped USPS Priority Mail within the United States. Because of the fragile nature of this purchase additional packaging is needed. The shipping cost will be determined by buyers location. International Buyers please contact us for a shipping quote.
