I am a 40+ year collector of LPs and 45s. All of the LPs and 45s I have listed on eBay are from my personal collection.

I have also been an audiophile for 40+ years (analog only). My system picks up the slightest surface noise on vinyl; i.e., ticks, pops, hiss, and sibilants due to groove wear. The standard I have used in adding a record to my collection has been how well it played. To me, this means quiet surfaces; i.e., no ticks, pops, crackle, or hiss in the music or the dead wax.

This record is a rare red vinyl DJ promotional 45 of Johnny Cash’s 1963 hit ‘Ring of Fire’. It is Columbia 4-42788. The record has the same song on both sides. Included is the DJ promotional sleeve.

Vinyl Grade: Mint

The vinyl looks and plays mint. There are no lines, scuffs, or marks of any kind on the vinyl nor is there any surface noise of any kind on either side of this 45, either with the music or in the run-ins and run-outs. The record surfaces are completely quiet throughout. I acquired it many years ago for my 45 promo collection and I doubt is has more than 1 or 2 spins on a turntable. I played it once to verify the mint condition and the sound of the vinyl for this listing. There is writing on one side of the label. Check out the pictures. This is a beautiful 45 and very rare in this condition.

Sleeve Grade: G-

This sleeve is a rare promotional sleeve sent only to DJs by Columbia along with the red vinyl 45 record. The sleeve opens from the top. The sleeve is all there but all three seams have splits in them. Also, as can be seen in the photos, a piece of the sleeve is missing from the top of the sleeve. Light creasing and ring wear is evident.

In all my years of collecting, this is the only promo sleeve for this record I have ever seen. It’s rare.

Each 45 is carefully packaged in custom made 45 mailing boxes with new cardboard stiffeners (the exact size of the mailing box) on the top and bottom of the 45 so it is tight and secure within the mailer.
