Description

This album conforms to the Goldmine Standard Rating of VG, surface scratches are present but do not affect the albums clear sound or playback. Very little hiss and I could hear no pops.
The Album cover has some slight surface scuffing, minimal corner bumps and breakthrough tear on the back spine (apx 1") and another large (apx 2") on the lower edge. The autographs are bright and flawless and original. We guarantee the lp to play and conform to this description or your money back.

I have researched the autographs on this lp and have discovered a delightful mystery...

The autographs present on the authenticity certificate are: Grover Washington (in white across the top of the cover), Billy Cobham (in silver under the contributing artists' names). I have found other authenticated signatures for these artists online and they are exact (Cobham's can be seen here:  http://www.autographsamerica.com/product_detail.asp?catalogid=3&productid=14159),  here is a certified autograph of Grover Washington, Jr's (http://www.autographsamerica.com/product_detail.asp?catalogid=3&productid=11799 ), another perfect match. However, when it comes to authenticating Johnny Hammond's autograph - here's the mystery. This is his certified autograph (  http://www.guaranteedautographs.com/hajolpsiauja.html ) looks nothing like the one on this lp cover, nor does any other I have found. However, I found a perfect match for this autograph, and it belongs to none other than John Hammond, the famous talented blues artist, whose signature is also sought after (see this link of an autographed photo: http://www.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5093440 ). It's an exact match!

Prior to joining the Kudu label in 1971, Johnny Hammond went by Johnny Hammond Smith (that signature here: http://www.guaranteedautographs.com/smjohas19jal.html), he then dropped Smith to avoid confusion... and apparently only to cause a whole new one...

I would have to call this album a one of a kind in more ways than one! AND one worth adding to any collection. I wish I knew the story behind how these signatures came to be... The autographs on here are very real, Hammond's just don't make much sense... Despite the mystery, this is one very awesome album by some very fine men and musicians - ENJOY!
