Description

  • Hard to find 1959 Johnny “Hammond” Smith deep groove purple label mono original first LP “All Soul” (New Jazz 8221), engineered by Rudy Van Gelder (RVG in dead wax).
  • Also performing on this LP is Thornel Schwartz (guitar), George Tucker (bass) and Leo Stevens (drums).
  • The tracklist is: Going Places/Sweet Cookies/The Masquerade Is Over/Pennies From Heaven/Easy Like/Secret Love/All Soul.
  • The glossy LP looks and plays great. There are a some sleeve scuffs and other light marks with some light occasional surface noise and a light tic now and then but nothing that detracts greatly from the playback. The cover has no splits, writing or cutouts. The original store price tag is on the back. The glossy front cover slick is near mint. The back slick shows some light wear and aging and there are a couple of small tears on the bottom that do not interfere with the liner notes. The corners show some light wear. All in all a very collectible original copy of his first LP.
  • NO reserve. I ship worldwide and will combine winning bids to save on postage (check out my other items!).
