Description

Johnny Hodges        Perdido       mono    Norgran 1091  black trumpet label

Johnny Hodges (as) Arthur Clarke (ts), Lawrence Brown (tb), Harold Baker (t), Leroy Lovett (p), John Willams (b), Louis Bellson (d) ETC  Recorded 1952, 1955

Black and silver label with trumpet and deep groove both sides.

 The record looks M- and plays strong VG++.  A really superb copy.  Both sides look beautiful and clean.  Grooves are glossy,without graying or spreading and look unplayed or nearly so.  No scuffs.  No scratches.  Norgran's vinyl was not high quality so the record plays with very, very light surface noise and slightly below it's appearance.

 The cover is VG++.

    The front cover looks really nice. It is very glossy with little or no wear. The back cover has moderate wear with some light staining at top and bottom and hint of ring wear. The spine is intact and readable. No split seams. Tiny spot of wear at top of the pocket.  All corners are tight and sharp.

Black lines that might be visible at bottom left and top right in pictures are due to photo cropping and not on cover.

 My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
