Description
Up for sale is an extremely scarce early Johnny Horton Abbott 78, Abbott 105, featuring:
Talk Gobbler Talk (105-A)
Shadows on the Old Bayou (105-B)
This copy is SIGNED by Johnny Horton, which is exceptionally uncommon on any Abbott-era disc. These early 1950s Abbott releases were low-press, regional, and fragile to begin with — finding a signed example is nearly unheard of.
This record comes from the estate music library of Lola Robinson (later Lola R. Montgomery / Lola Lugo), a trained vocalist with connections to the University of Oklahoma, and later Dallas, TX and Los Angeles, CA (store stamps from Whittle Music Co., Dallas and Southern California music shops).
Johnny Horton’s mother’s maiden name was also Robinson, and his family moved between East Texas and Southern California, but any direct relationship between this Lola and the Horton/Robinson family remains unverified.
