Condition of jacket: Good, little wear, but spine seam is fully split to where the record can slide out the other side. Top seam also partially split a few inches on the right side.

Condition of record: Excellent, very glossy, appears almost like new with some very slight scuffing.

Gene Williams is a country boy and he's proud of it. This heritage that came from the rural area of Dyess, Arkansas, has more than anything else,  contributed to his ability to "sell himself and his personality" to anyone anywhere.

It's little wonder, then, that the Gene Williams Country Junction Show has rocketed into orbit around the mid-South area including Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, and Indiana.

Gene Williams understands the Country Music Fan and because of this he is able to give them what they want in the way of entertainment. This has been the case since the day in 1958 when he took a job as disc jockey for radio station KWAM, in Memphis.

Since beginning his career in radio, Gene has been active in promoting some of the leading country music stars, including the Flatt & Scruggs group.

His work with recording stars such as this paved the way for beginning his Cotton Town Jubilee Record Company; Cotton Town Music and Music Publishing Company; and the highly successful Gene Williams Country Junction Show.

The Country Junction Show, whose stars are featured in this album was born November 4, 1963 when television station KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, Arkansas contracted the Country Music Show to fill out the programming at the new station.

Though the show was given prime time on the station (7:30 to 8 p.m.) it was only a half hour presentation featuring the top country music makers in the mid-South. Two months later however, the show was made an hour-long show. In September 1965 it moved its time to 4:30 to 5:30 each Sunday.

By February, 1964 the Gene Williams Country Junction Show has developed a long line of waiting sponsors to clear the way for a companion presentation entitled "Hayride" an hour-long offering of country music each Tuesday night from 7:30 to 8:30. Now seen on Wednesday and Friday at 5:00p.m.

Meanwhile the Country Junction Show continues to flourish. In September 1964, it took in the television audience served by WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tenn. By April, 1965, television station KARK in Little Rock and KFSA-TV in Fort Smith, Ark. had added the Country Junction Show to their weekly programming. In 1966 WPSD-TV, Paducah, Kentucky, KFVS-TV, Cape-Girardeau, Missouri, WJTV, Jackson, Miss., KTTS-TV, Springfield, Mo., WSFA-TV, Montgomery, Alabama, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, Calif., and KBTV, Denver, Colorado had also added the Country Junction Show to their weekly programming. Then adding to the list was WABG, Greenwood,Miss., WCBI-TV, Columbus, Miss., WDAM-TV, Laurel,Miss., WHBQ-TV, Memphis, Tenn., WOLO-TV, Columbia, S.C., and WCCB-TV in Charlotte, N.C.

Performers in the show made personal appearances throughout the mid-South, traveling thousands of miles a year to entertain the growing number of appreciative country music lovers.

In the year of 1966 the Gene Williams Country Junction Show played more than 300 shows in Arkansas and the mid-South,  plus tapeing of his TV shows which takes a great deal of time.

In this album you'll find songs of the regular members of the Gene Williams Country Music Shows. Most of these performers have been with Gene for many years. They represent some of the finest talent in the country. All are recording artists in their own right.

Johnny Duncan, Alton Yancy, Bill Medlock, Jim Roby, Sandy Manuel and Lynne Burns make up the Country Junction Band and the backbone of the shows.

Saturday Nov. 12, 5:30 p.m., Gene Williams started another show called the Gene Williams Talent Show, of KAIT-TV, Jonesboro, Ark., this show enables local people to display their talent.

Gene, contributes a great deal of his success in the country music field to his many friends and loyal sponsors throughout the South.
