Photos of the label can help determine the year of the pressing. It's always nice to have an original record (better value) that was "pressed" the very first year it hit the store shelves. It's also a nice plus to have an "original' inner sleeve. This also adds value. A must, is a description of how the record is rated ( "NM" Near Mint, VG+ " Very Good Plus", "VG" Very Good ) will help you to know how the record will sound when you play it. look up the "Goldmine" rating system. Records that are test played (seller listened to) are even better. Of course, You will want to know about sharp corners, edges / spine, split seams, writing, stains etc. All these bits of information will help you understand the value of the record you are purchasing and with your record collecting skills in general. M Record is still sealed in the original factory shrink wrap.
NM Record looks close to new with no marks.
EX Record may have a few scuffs or light scratches which should not affect sound quality.
VG+ Record has some scuffs and light scratches which may result in some minor surface noise during play.
VG Record has clear wear on the surface. Surface noise may be present, including pops and crackles, but
the record should play through nicely without any skips.
G
Record has significant signs of use but no deep gouges that would cause skips. Surface noise should
be expected.

M Record is still sealed in the original factory shrink wrap.
NM Cover looks close to new with virtually no signs of wear. Most records in this category are still in the
original (opened) shrink wrap.
EX Cover has some slight wear but is still in excellent condition overall. All seams are intact.
VG+ Cover has signs of wear like scuffing, ring wear, writing or price tags. All seams are intact.
