   For sale is Joni Mitchell's Shadows and Light, originally released in 1980 by Asylum Records as a double record set with a unique embossed cover and a gate-fold presentation. According to the album's liner notes, this record was mastered by Bernie Grundman. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is etched an upper case "S" with a smaller "r" and "c" inside its coils, followed by the matrix numbers SP-1/SP-1/SP-1/SP-1. These etchings indicate that first stampers were used to make this record at Specialty Records Corporation's pressing plant located in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record set used, professionally cleaned them on my VPI HW-17 machine and put the albums into two MFSL archival inner sleeves. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The original inner sleeves are graded as Excellent because of some wrinkles and very minor ring wear. The cover is graded as VG because of corner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs, stress cracks along the spine and paper loss where a sticker was removed on the upper left hand corner. The spine has color loss at the corners and along the edges from these stress cracks and blunts. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent because of some sleeve marks and faint surface scratches on Side Three. Side One, Two and Four are visually graded as Near Mint. I'm play grading it between VG+ (Side Three and Four) and Near Mint (Sides One and Two) because of some surface noise on Side Three that is most noticeable during the quiet sections of playback. Side Four had a few pops that were not too overpowering. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have a lot more Jazz  records, as well as albums of all different genres listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look.
