Joy Division Closer Factory Records 1980 Fact 25 UK 1st Press A1/B-1 variation 1

Description

Joy Division Closer, very first pressing on black vinyl A1/B1 Old Blue? With none of the other matrices found on later pressings. Pressed with very short run out to increase sound quality. Apparently one of 5000 initial pressings which Martin Hannett had not approved, Factory Records list this as a test pressing.
Vinyl is clean and plays beautifully, minimal surface noise, light surface marks, No spindle marks. VG+.
Inner sleeve has original rounded corners has kept it's colour well, a couple of small blemishes and a 5 cm split and the bottom seam. Good +
Outer Sleeve; Textured sleeve, notorious for attracting stains and falling apart in time. This looks like it has been salvaged from a 17th century Florentine mansion, yellowed antique look to it with a few blemishes. All three seams have splits but it still manages to keep itself in one piece. No writing on cover and still looks fine on a shelf.Fair. Will be posted with clear plastic cover and antistatic inner.
I will include a limited edition Oxfam Unknown Pleasures christmas card with the album.
All records are cleaned and play tested before listing. Happy to combine postage. Records will be posted in reinforced mailer. Thanks for looking...

FACT 25 comes in two vinyl editions: Black and translucent dark red. It can only be differentiated when holding against a strong light source.
Apparantly, this is due to Martin Hannett, who ordered a second master cut after he found out that 5000 records were pressed without the initial master having been approved.

There also are two sleeve variations:
A thick and rough cardboard sleeve with rough inner sleeve and having rounded corners (this) or a plain carton sleeve with glossy inner sleeve and having straight corners. However, the two vinyl editions can come in either sleeve.
