Description
This is Original / 1st 1979 UK pressing of Joy Divisions iconic album Unknown Pleasures on the FACTORY (FACT 10) label. I bought this LP pretty much as it was released around July/August 1979, and I consider it a 1st pressing . The reason I bring this up is that, some consider the "translucent red " copy is the 1st, well I beg to differ, the 1st pressings were pressed in either solid black or transluscent.
About the lP
Matrix Numbers / etchings, correct for the 1st pressings, woth both side with 1 Mother Stampers
Inside (white Label) FACT 10 INSIDE 1 A - A PORKY PRIME CUT - STEP,
Outside (Black Label) FACT 10 OUTSIDE 1 B - THIS IS WAY - A PORKY PRIME CUT ,
Please note that "Townhouse " used instead of "Porky" is the 2nd pressing, and on recent issues neither "Townhouse or "Porky" appear , but are otherwise pretty much identical to the original and even contain step/ this is the way on the run - off etchings
Correct textured G&L cover with "printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & lofthouse Ltd" in the back bottom right corner. the cover I would grade VG , has some signs of edge/Ring wear and light creasing but no serious flaws. Condition can always be slight subjective so I try to be as honest, using the rare record guide grading as reference. The photo's taken are a as true as possible and are an honest reflection of condition.
Labels are free from any problems and are NM
Inner Sleeve, is the cream squared corner cut variation ( come in 2 varients, squared and rounded) and is in VG condition no tears or writing.
Vinyl, both sides heavy and glossy, retaining all its original sheen. It has be played 5 times max and has been housed in a poly lined inner so to avoid the scuffing that you get with the thick card inner. Overall I would grade as a genuine VG+
