Description

Joy Division - Substance [1977 - 1980]. Does what is says on the time. Released on Manchester's iconic Factory label. Featuring all their big tracks from the early days through to Love Will Tear Us Apart. Defining sad-happy-sad, Joy Division have been mimicked, copied, and revered ever since their awful demise. This record traces their early, rough and experimental dark tracks of the late seventies through to their accomplished and beautifully produced masterpieces. A remarkable transformation from one decade to the next saw them mature while retaining their hallmark sound of bleak, dark, claustrophobic urgency. Nothing has really come close to them in this category since. This original release is hard to find now that a newer 2-record version exists with bonus tracks. Who wants a re-release when you can have what actually sat in the shops at the time of the original release? Especially as the iconic design and art work is by the legendary Peter Saville and the album is produced by the late Martin Hannett. Snap this up while you can because its value will only continue to rise. Inner sleeve has some age related marks (see photos.)
