Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures Vinyl - Original 1979
It's quite simple: if you want to listen to Joy Division's finest hour, then look no further than this, their first album. Like many fantastic albums, this is not 'immediate', nor is it particularly accessible or masses friendly, nor should it be. Most life-affirming albums grow on people. I estimate that most people will have to listen to this album roughly five times before they start to appreciate all of it's many details, subtleties and nuances, lovingly arranged like some aural landscape.
This album was bought at the tail end of 1979. It has been played - a lot of times. As such the vinyl is not as good as it could be. Although I do not have the capacity to play it to check for faults, the last time I did play it there were no jumps. However, on tracks such as She's Lost Control, New Dawn Fades & Shadowplay there is probably a lot of surface noise as these were tracks that I played over & over again. Looking at the vinyl in the light it is not too bad - some finger prints light scuffing but that is all. The sleeve is strong in texture, although both the front and back show a 'ring' effect where the vinyl has pressed through the sleeve - this is clearly visible in the second picture.
Please note that although this is an original of the album, it is probably a second or third pressing
