he entered as a bomber in the
Municipal Concert Band of Puerto Padre .
Later entered the ENA, where he studied trombone
with Antonio Linares . In 1967 he joined
the Cuban Orchestra of Modern Music as a
trombonist led by maestro and saxophonist Armando Romeu .
In 1976 he founded the Algo Nuevo Group
with which he updated some genres of Cuban dance music
with a new timbre and original arrangements.
Between the years 1979-1980 formed part with his
group of the musical production titled "The Danzón",
with libreto of Enrique Núñez Rodríguez ;
This show was playing for months at the
Cabaret Parisien of the Hotel Nacional and in that
production was established a memorable musical dialogue
between his trombone and the voice of the soprano Maria Remolá .
In 1984 he recorded for Ástor Piazzolla ... In 1992
he settled in the United States where, among other things,
he continued teaching, composed electronic music (fashionable
at the time) and made recordings with the pianist Bebo Valdés .
As a trombone teacher he created an instrument so that
future aerophone players could see for themselves the
necessary pressures to be generated with the lips to obtain certain notes."
