A little about me and my grading and care of records. I have been a buyer/seller/collector of records since the late 1960s early 1970s. You are dealing with a true music buff here. So when it comes to music I don't know it all but I know alot! QUESTIONS!!! When cd's came around in the mid 1980s I slowly got away from collecting and dealing with records and by 1990 I went exclusively with cd's. Now with all the resurgent interest in records I have decided to get back into dealing with records, slowly though, I will be listing a fair amount of records over the next couple of months and then early next year I will be going full throttle listing several thousand records. Now about my cleaning and grading process. Yes I do my best to grade within Goldmine standards and guidelines and believe myself to be a good strict grader of vinyl records. My grading system is Mint-Sealed (the only true Mint condition records are those that are still sealed), M-, NM, NM-, VG+, VG and VG-. VG- being the lowest grade, a VG- record will have visible scratches some of which most likely will be audible, some may not, record may also have surface noise do to overall light scuffing. I do not list any records with less than a VG- grading. Before grading all records are cleaned the only professional way I know which is totally safe for the record with a mixture of distilled water and rubbing alcohol applied with the softest real diaper material that can be bought. Contact me if you want to know details about the simple process for cleaning records correctly. All LP records are safely shipped between two heavy duty 14" square cardboard sheets with the record outside of the cover so there is no slippage during shipping that could damage the spines and integrity of the cover.
