Watching the British guitarist Julian Bream address himself to the task of making his first recordings in an American studio, with no more mechanical assistance than a small foot –stool (propping up the left foot to make a platform of the knee where the guitar rests), one realized that here truly is a man wholly on his own. Of course, he has his two hands. In Bream’s case they are more unusually cultivated hands, for he began his musical studies at the piano, and he worked off and on playing guitar in dance bands while developing his present mastery of the classical, or Spanish, guitar which he began to study even before becoming a teenager. If you like solo classical/Spanish guitar this is a must LP to have.
