The auction you are bidding on is for a very rare promotional copy of "Travel With Love" by Justin Hinds and the Dominoes. The album comes with 4 inserts from Nighthawk records promoting the band and the record. The record itself is in NM condition and does not appear to have ever been played! The album cover has some wear and scuffs, a small split on the spine and at the top, and the corner has been clipped. The inserts are in VG condition with some light wear to the edges. Inserts include Reggae and African Beat, Justin Hinds bio, a newspaper story and a copy of a certificate of appreciation from the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. (See pics.)

One of the inserts has a cool quote from Bob Marley. "You 'ave another good group a Jamaica wha' nobody no 'ear 'bout...Group name 'Justin Hinds and the Dominoes... De little youth deh can sing man. Dem just stay in de country and dem voice just fine and strong man. Dem come in a studio, dem just sing dung de whole place."

This is a beautiful copy of a rare Roots Reggae album from one of the great bands.

Travel With Love (Nighthawk, 1984)

Although Justin Hinds and the Dominoes are remembered primarily for their crucialcontributions to the ska and rock steady sound of the 1960s and early 1970s,they released two strong roots albums for Island in the 1970s (Jezebeland Just in Time), followed by a pair for Nighthawk, Know Jah Betterand Travel With Love. Sadly, Hinds' rootsy side is too oftenoverlooked when people judge his career accomplishments, but roots fans shouldcertainly not pass up this album, as it's a magnificent showcase for his talentand versatility. Travel With Love is a tranquil, laid-back set,especially when compared to the group's up-tempo ska days (even "Get Readyto Rock Steady" is mellow -- not rock steady!). Its sound isroots reggae with soft lovers rock overtones and and old school soulful harmonytrio vibe that reminds me at times of The Heptones. Like The Heptones, Hinds and the Dominoes switch comfortably between love songs,like "Miss Wendell" and "Sweet Loraine," and message tunes,like "Book of History" and "Weeping Eyes," all the whilewith a catchy, easy-to-listen-to, classic sound that makes the 9 tracks rush byin an instant.
