Description
Kagel
Heterophonie
WERGO WER 60043 (Germany)
This uncommon Wergo label issue features an interesting early experimental work for symphony orchestra by German-Argentine avant-garde composer Mauricio Kagel (1931-2008). Heterophonie, or "heterophony," refers to a practice typical in indigenous music where several instruments play an identical musical line and a sense of haphazard polyphony results from the widely ranging tone colors that result. Kagel's score provides individual lines of musical actions for related groups of orchestral instruments, but not the specific pitches or registers, at least not for the whole score, and some sections for fully composed. Kagel was influenced by theatricality & polyphony of indigenous music throughout his composing career. Record is in NEAR MINT+ (appears unplayed) condition & jacket is NM with insert. Highly recommended for anyone interested in avant-garde, electronic, experimental or improvised music, don’t miss it!
