Description

KALEIDOSCOPE

FAINTLY BLOWING

LP released on the Fontana label in 1969.  Comes in a gatefold sleeve.

This is a very rare classic Psyche LP performed by the UK based group Kaleidoscope.

Catalogue Number:
STL.5491

Matrix:
Side One: 886496  1Y//1  42 0  1 1  51  1
Side Two: 886496   2Y//1  42 0   1 1   1

Condition:
Side One:
There is a watermark at the start of the record covering approx 7-8 grooves.  This is common to the majority of the copies of this record.  There are a number of other surface marks on this side but no deep scratches or scuffs.

Play grade:
The side plays through completely with no skips jumps or pops but does have background crackle.  At the area of the watermark this is audible for 7-8 revolutions at approx 0.3 seconds (or less) per revolution.  Still very enjoyable but not archive quality.

Side Two:
There is a larger watermark which covers approx 10 grooves which is audible for approx 0.3 seconds per revolution (probably less).  There is also a couple of fairly light scratches on it that cover across 3 of the 5 tracks.  There is other surface marking as well.

Play Grade:
The watermark is audible for approx 0.3 seconds per revolution or less for around 10 revolutions.  Only one of the scratches appears to be audible and this is very much in the background even during quieter periods.  Plays through completely with background crackle but has no skips or jumps.

The sleeve has an area at the front that is completely torn off and is unfortunately missing.  The important part of the front picture is all present .  There is also a large rip on the right hand inside gatefold and also another one at the rear of the sleeve (see pictures).  The spine has scuffs along it.

If you are looking for an archive copy, this is not the one for you.  However if you are after a playable collection filler then this could be for you.  Starting at £4.99 with no reserve you could pick yourself up a very rare gem of a record.

INFO:
Record was played on an Audionote TT1 with Denon DL-304 cartridge on modified Rega arm through a Trichord Dino (+).  This set up does reveal a lot of crackle which may be considerably less noticeable using other set ups.
