KALEIDOSCOPE
'TANGERINE DREAM'
FONTANA RECORDS cat# TL.5448 ~ MONO 1967 Original 1967 psychedelic LP
The best early Psych lp, loaded with all great eclectic tracks, well arranged and brilliant music! Peter Daltry composed uniquely styled music with a folk influence, that the band transposed into wonderful multifaceted psych music. Think of the time - many bands were retreading beat or rock 'n roll - had anything else paved the way for this album? There's a strange psych edge that is captivating. ..I believe the tapes of the instrumentation were perhaps relayed slightly off key to the vocals, in the studio. It has a surreal, off kilter tone that underpins the voices, making it seem uniquely dimensional(?) Maybe this was their own technique, I cannot remember hearing anything like this, it's very effective, provocative even! Kaleidoscope were outstanding....yet ignored by the record buying public at large. They are playing a few revival gigs recently featuring songs from this and the second lp, adding single tracks and Fairfield Parlour songs. A tremendous album, the compositions are consistent and fantastic recordings - few 'rated' rare psychedelia albums are as good in my opinion. (and I've had Dr Z, July, Rainbow Ffolly and other 'big' albums) This is a fine piece, nice to find in decent playing condition.WITH THIS RECORD I MAKE NO APOLOGIES FOR THE AUCTION PRICE - IT'S RIDICULOUSLY RARE IN *ANY* CONDITION - BUT THIS ONE IS IN VERY NICE SHAPE. Bidders MUST be prepared to buy the item, not just bidding out of desire without funds to back up their purchase. Please do NOT ask about 'stamper numbers' or matrixes, there IS NOT a variety of pressings available and this is not a fake!! IF you would like to own it but cannot afford it - be sensible, everyone is in that bracket for something! I also avoid crooks who ask for part refunds, return an empty box or a wrecked disc in exchange etc. Those tricks don't succeed and may get them banned off eBay ...because they are aware too! See my feedback, and other items for sale. ===============================
Condition; The VINYL is with great full shine, a few light marks not affecting play - except inbetween tracks of 'Dear Nellie Goodrich' where there are light ticks, not loud or drastic, won't skip! Plays magnificently well, clear and great music quality. Side 1 play-grades NM, Side 2 play-grades EX overall. Visually VG++, and a decent copy indeed (NM's now going for thousands!) The original 'Monster Rare' (silly expression, but why not!) LP in decent shape - I'd consider this a 'keeper' for vinyl collectors and collectors of rare psych gems.
Matt Black with Silver LABLES are EX ..... The single sleeve CARD COVER grades VG+ to ++ No seam splits, moderate handling wear, title edge is scuffed so parts of the text are obscured. Only light aging discolouration to the rear face (see photos) A presentable copy indeed. *
