Description

This is a deluxe packaging of one of the greatest performances of Tosca ever recorded, Karajan's 1962 Vienna Philharmonic produced by the famous John Culshaw. My 2001 Gramophone Classical Good CD Guide described it as a classic version, with sound satisfying in every way, and praises the superiority of the interpretation! (see photo). But this "Soria Series" LP is a work of art in itself. Gorgeous box. Fantastic libretto printed in Italy and lavishly illustrated. An insert describing other Soria offerings in perfect condition. LP's appear to be close to mint condition after being hand washed by myself. The famous Act 1 Conclusion (think Bond at the Opera in Quantum of Solace) alone will blow your mind! I am not an expert on records but I think the pressings are the originals - - three of four sides are marked 1S & the fourth side 2S. RCA produced Soria with the intention of creating fine records that would be akin to fine books--and in this instance they achieved just that!
