Polydor 542.001, 1969 original issue / 1st pressing (Canada) Stereo
Karim Shoukry (???? ????), was the stage name of Egyptian born Jean Zaloum (1933-2012), a popular singer in Egypt, where he scored a hit in the 60's ("Take Me Back To Cairo").
At the end of that decade, he settled in Quebec (Canada), where he lived until his death in 2012. In Montreal, he released this impossibly rare album of Middle Eastern world-folk-pop original compositions which includes his hit "Take Me Back To Cairo" (English lyrics courtesy of Greek-Yugoslavian composer-arranger Andre Ryder). He also became involved in the city's exciting local music scene of the 70's.....producing a few epic soundtracks including "Les Beaux Dimanches" in 1974 and the cult underground pop-psych gem "Apres-Ski" in 1971.
