Kathy Young - A Thousand Stars / Gene Vincent - Be Bop A Lula (10" 78 RPM Single)


Vinyl condition (Kathy Young PRM-78-28): VG with slightly elongated sound during playback.

Vinyl condition (Gene Vincent PRM-78-41): VG

Vinyl has a gentle edge warp which may cause some tonearms to skip or repeat, but played through fine when tested. Both sides have light inner sleeve stains which did not cause significant noise.

This 10" single was part of a box set intended for 10" compatible jukeboxes. It was manufactured at a time when the 50's revival scene in the US was at its peak in the early 1980s. The box set originally contained twenty-five "retro" 78 RPM 10" vinyl singles of oldies hits, housed in a cardboard box. The specific release year of the box set is unknown but may have been released sometime around 1983 (given the '83' etched into the runout grooves on each side of each release).

Prime Records would go on to produce at least four other box sets of 10" singles, as well as individual 7" singles. Their products were likely marketed to businesses that owned and operated jukeboxes, as no LP releases nor original recording artists are known to exist on this label.

I found this title (and the other Prime Records singles I'm selling here on eBay) in the summer of 2021 in a warehouse near the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The contents of the warehouse belonged to an antiques dealer. The box that was originally issued with the set was not found in the warehouse and thus is not for sale.
