KAT-TET "WOMEN" - ULTRA RARE PRIVATE MODAL / SPIRITUAL JAZZ from GUADELOUPE ?

This confidential private album is one of the best discovery I have heard lately. Recorded in the early 80's by a bunch of brilliant musicians from Guadeloupe, Patrick Jean-Marie on piano & Toto Jean-Marie on bass (both brothers of famous pianist Alain Jean-Marie) Christian Mathurin & Charly Chomereau-Lamothe on percussions, Erick Danquin on drums, and Francois Luther on sax. You have everything you expect on this beautiful album with powerful and deep tunes like the uptempo "Nikita" with amazing flute & virtuoso piano solo, "Swing hibiscus" a subtle groovy modal tune while "Hommage" sounds like a spiritual dedication to Coltrane. "Sky 2000" & "Solange" are also brilliant tunes. Never properly distributed in France this under the radar lp is extremely hard to find. For fans of Michel Sardaby, G.E Nouel, Synchro, Louis Xavier Ladja, Fabiano Orchestra, Marius Cultier, Roland Brival ... Record is NM (looks unplayed) cover is EX with only slight signs of wear on the spine. Don't sleep on this rarity as it never shows up on the web.

SS = Still Sealed (in perfect condition, no wear )

M = Mint (still in new condition, no imperfections, a Perfect Copy !) 

M- = Near mint (imperceptible wear, full vinyl gloss) 

EX = Excellent (only very slight wear and paper scuffs, vinyl still glossy with very rare noise) 

VG++ = Near Excellent (light surface noise and wear but fairly minor, vinyl still plays nicely) 

VG+ = Very Very Good (Evident groove wear or minor scuff marks, surface noise noticeable but does not really affect the playing) 

VG = Very Good (Wear and scuffs are more evident and many surface noises are noticeable) 

VG- = Good to Very Good (heavy groove wear or scuffing, plays noisily)
