Description
This is a very interesting disc containing one complete 15 minute radio show and one radio show excerpt from 1936. Disc is 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm. This disc was recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, Very Rare!
"Chesterfield Dance Program" radio program excerpt from 1936. The last 13 minutes of the radio program featuring dance music by Andre Kostelanetz & His 45 Piece Dance Orchestra with vocals by Kay Thompson (of later "Eloise" fame), Ray Heatherton & The Rhythm singers. Songs include "Close To Me" vocal Ray Heatherton, "I'm An Old Cowhand" vocal Kay Thompson & chorus (an excellent, long song with parody lyrics), "Hallelujah". Program includes a commercial for Chesterfield Tobacco and the closing announcement. Announcer is David Ross. A rare, excellent example of 1930's Kay Thompson singing
"The Instrumentalists" radio program from 1936. This is an interesting show which the announcer describes as "The Anything Can Happen And Probably Will Club" and "12 Care Free Instrumentalists", assuming there are 12 musicians on the program. Songs include "I'm An Old Cowhand" with Babe Russin saxophone, a song introduced as "Blues ... In B-Flat ... Whatever Happens Goes"? with Russ Jenner trombone, "Meet Me On The Downbeat" Sammy Weiss drums, "In Autumn (Mussorgsky)" George Halpern? piano, "Butterfly Etude (Chopin" George Halpern? piano, "Stumbling All Around" Lou Shuby? bass, Vincent Matson? guitar, Pete Familio? clarinet, "Runnin' Wild" Dave Wade trumpet. There is some surface noise on the last song. George Halpern? is introduced as a concert pianist. An excellent 1930's dance music radio program. Announcer is John Allen Wolf. Program is 15 minutes complete with opening and closing announcements
The year 1936 is written on one side of the disc and the year 1936 is mentioned in "The Instrumentalists" radio program. Also, the music would also support the year of 1936, however I do not know the exact date of the programs
I could not find any reference to any existing copies of either of these radio programs in any online radio log or database

Disc is in Excellent-- Condition with Excellent- Sound, a beautiful disc with some rare material
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer only
