TRAPPED LOVE
How is it that Keith Courvale only cut one record? Doggone it, so many of these great rockabilly acts, seem to have the funds to cut one 45, then they get a day-job and never return for another go at it. Such seems to be the case with Keith Courvale.
He first cut it for the microscopic Val Records label, then it got picked up for national distribution by Dot Records. That was back in October 1958. The song "Trapped Love" is a great knocker, with a Duane Eddy type guitar, slap bass, and a vocal that was not only a predecessor to those by the Cramps, it also became a Cramps song years later.
Chances are you've heard this in your own collection, as it's been on nearly a dozen different compilations such as 'That'll Flat Git It (Vol. 5), Cotton Pickin' Rock, Ultra Rare Rockabillys, Dot Rock 'n' Roll, Like Nothing Your Ears Have Ever Heard (Vol. 9) and of course, Song The Craps Taught Us (Vol. 1).
On the flip is "Steel Worker Blues."
